Drowning is a Leading Cause of Death in Children

• About 10 people per day die of unintentional drowning in the U.S.
• Drowning is the #1 accidental cause of death in the U.S. for children ages 1-4.
• 1 in 5 drownings are children 1-14
• For every child who dies, 5 receive emergency care for non-fatal submersion, and may have permanent brain damage.
• Most drownings occur in home swimming pools belonging to family or friends of the victim.

*Participants will get a guided refresh of CPR skills from a certified CPR instructor, however students will not be certified to perform CPR to the general public.
