Jen

Jennifer is the founder and Lead Teacher at Water Ready Swim School.  In addition to teaching, Jennifer directs the marketing, programming and instructor training. Jennifer grew up swimming and competitive racing in Houston, Texas. After corporate burn-out from thirty years in the shoe business, Jennifer started teaching swimming at our local YMCA "just to keep busy." With her business background, she quickly realized that our community was underserved both in quantity and quality of swim lessons - and she started Water Ready Swim School. The curriculum that Jen developed puts special emphasis on safety and building confidence in the water. Jen teaches at Midland Ave on Mon/Tues/Thurs. Jen is also available for home pool lessons.
Jennifer teaches all ages and all abilities - baby and guardian classes, toddlers, and all ages beginner through advanced racing. Jennifer also has experience teaching those who experience anxiety in and around water. Jennifer also teaches students who learn, move or behave differently due to a variety of disabilities.

Sophia R.

Sophia grew up swimming in Oregon and competed for seven years. She swam varsity all four years of high school and served as team captain her senior year. She has four years of experience teaching swim lessons for all ages and abilities, ranging from baby swim lessons to assisting with a high school swim team. Sophia prioritizes water safety, strong technique, making lessons fun, and meeting students where they are. She is proficient in teaching all four strokes and helping swimmers build confidence and skill in the water. Sophia holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology, which she applies to create a supportive and structured learning environment. Sophia is a certified lifeguard.
Sophia teaches at Ridgewood Ave, Glen Ridge, and makes house calls.

Sofia M.

Sofia is a pre‑med student and experienced swim instructor who has taught swimmers of all ages and abilities. With a background in psychology and experience as a behavioral technician, she uses positive reinforcement and individualized strategies to support each swimmer’s learning style, including those with special needs or autism. Her first‑responder training, combined with clinical experience in neurology, pediatrics, and hospital settings, helps her maintain a calm, safety‑focused environment. She also brings experience in clinical research on memory and cognition, giving her a strong understanding of how people learn and build skills over time. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Sofia creates an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere where every swimmer can build confidence and grow at their own pace.
Sofia teaches at our host pool in Glen Ridge Hill.

George

George is an experienced swim instructor and aquatic professional who has been teaching all levels of swimmers for more than 10 years. With a passion for swimming, water safety, and helping others grow in confidence, he works with swimmers of all ages and fitness levels to help them achieve their personal swimming and fitness goals. George swam competitively, and also has leadership experience training aquatic professionals. He is known for creating a supportive, encouraging environment while maintaining a calm, safety-focused approach in and around the water. George is dedicated to every student, and every lesson. Simply put, George loves swimming.
