Our innovative physical distance swim lessons allow us to safely teach water safety and swimming to unvaccinated students/guardians by combining teacher-led instruction, CDC distancing protocols and guardian participation.

• Teacher and student, and/or guardian stay minimum 6' apart.
• A guardian/competent swimmer provides physical support in the pool to any inexperienced swimmers.
• The instructor structures and guides the lesson, demonstrates skills, and teaches the guardian how to support the student.
• Touch points and equipment are sanitized after each student.

Outdoor group public classes: available only to vaccinated students
Outdoor guardian-assisted public classes: Available to students who are accompanied by a vaccinated guardian in the water.
Indoor group public classes: None available at this time.


New Jersey has published guidelines for outdoor pools and LifeCycle Swimming is following these protocols. For more information from the state of New Jersey about Covid-19 and swimming, click here.  According to the CDC: "There is no evidence that Covid-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools or hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance and disinfection (e.g. chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes Covid-19."

During these unprecedented times, a pool can become a critical summer refuge, and can also help add structure to the day. Let us continue your family's water safety education to promote safe, fun and relaxation. More about Physical Distance Swim Lessons:

TEACHER WILL:

• Cancel any lesson if she/he is sick or has a fever.
• Instructor stays 6' from swimmers, either in the water or from the deck.
• Teach safe rescue techniques to the attending guardian and family members.
• Wear a mask on deck when physical distance cannot be maintained.
• Use a doll to guide parents on how to hold, support and cue children.
• Sanitize all toys and equipment used during any class.
• Provide a list of recommended equipment so clients can purchase if desired (see sidebar).

For Backyard lessons, the teacher:

• Brings hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes.
• Brings a sanitized lifeguard tube to the property.
• Sanitizes anything touched before leaving the property.
• May need to use client's bathroom and will wear a mask when entering any indoor space. If this cannot be offered, we cannot teach at your home.

PARENT OR GUARDIAN PARTICIPANT WILL:

• Cancel any lesson if any participant is sick in any way or has a fever.
• Be in the water supporting the child for all ages up to 5 years old, and any inexperienced swimmer, regardless of age.
• Demonstrate that they have basic water competency.
• For higher level swimmers, be prepared to enter the pool to handle any behavioral issue or emergency.

For Backyard lessons:

• Client will provide the teacher with an area to put her/his belongings that is minimum 6' away from other people using the deck and pool area.
• Teacher may disinfect area with wipes at his/her discretion, and in consultation with homeowner.
